Summer Shows and HAPPY Memories

Howdy!  WELCOME SUMMER!!!!!

 Red and ripe....

Spring just flew by- and now here we are in the first full week of Summer!  It warmed up quick down here in South Central Texas!  The garden is starting to fade- but I will keep watering in the chance that it isn't ready to stop! The tomatoes and basil are always a favorite around here!  We slice some bread, toast it, layer fresh mozzarella cheese, basil and tomato followed by a drizzle of seasoned olive oil- Yes- I can make a meal out of it!

I thought I would take a moment to share some road tripping options for you and your friends!  A list has been compiled of a few shows going on around the great state of Texas-

Other regularly scheduled Market Days to visit

Boerne Market Days – every second weekend of the month
Market Days has become synonymous with great shopping in an outdoor setting with artists, craftsmen and vendors showing their creative talents and wares to the background music of some of Texas' best homegrown musicians.  Great food with a local flavor prepared on the spot is also a favorite. Boerne Market Days is open Saturday and Sunday from 10am - 5pm.
Canton Trade Days – the weekend prior to the first Monday of each month.
City Wide Garage Sale – Austin – monthly, dates vary
Fredericksburg Trade Days – weekend of 3rd Saturday of every month
Experience the excitement of Fredericksburg Trade Days at Sunday Farms. We are near the Pedernales River, wineries, Lavender trails, delicious country peaches, Luckenbach, Enchanted Rock, and hundreds of bed and breakfasts.  It's something to crow about! Antiques, collectibles, tools, crafts, shabby chic, primitives, ranch furniture, hunting accessories, candles, unique clothing, jewelry, food and so much more.
Gruene Market Days – third weekend of every month
The Gruene Market Days exclusive appeal is that all products sold
are made by the vendors themselves.

Wimberley Market Days – first Saturday of the month March – December
Wimberley hosts the oldest outdoor market in the Texas Hill Country and the second-largest in the state. They feature over 475 booths of everything you can't live without. Come stroll the tree-shaded paths, listen to live music and shop to your heart's content. 7:00 – 4:00 p.m.

Yes-I Know there are a ton of awesome ones around the nation- there is an Amazing list of those in Flea Market Style and Ki Nassauer's newest creation- Fleaquest (which we are glad to be part of!!!)

As always- when I am out for some junking- I have to find some cool place to eat... These pics have been snapped along the way- First person to tell me where the pic on the right is from can get FREE entrance into the Barn Sale- Nov 1-2nd at JB Wells Showbarn in Gonzales, Texas!

Chicken Dinner- mmmmmm Southern Living has some awesome Fried chicken spots listed in this months publication!
Texas and BBQ- they go hand in hand! There are two great BBQ places in Gonzales area if you are here for Barn Sale- you can find it on our places to eat link!

This porch is pretty inviting to me.  I think it would be pleasant to sit out with a beverage of choice and prop my feet up watching the sunset.

I wanted to add this sign- this is not a vintage or antique market- but weekly the Pearl Farmer's Market in downtown San Antonio- if you are anywhere close by- stop in some Saturday from 9am-1pm in front of the historic brewhouse- you won't be disappointed!

As with any show- wear comfortable shoes, pack some of your favorite drinks to keep hydrated, a cart if you have one and if the show has room for them, sunscreen and a hat!  If you need some super great sunscreen let me know- I have a bevvy of them to suggest from my Rodan + Fields skin care!

This time of year is a Happy time- families making memories together of annual trips- or starting an annual vacation for the first time!  We have friends that are headed north to cool weather country- I know they will enjoy themselves and enjoy the ever changing scenery along the way! One of our weekly memory makers for the summer time is Sunday smores! Cattleman always bbq's on Sunday evenings- and the kiddos have figured out that by the time we are finished eating the coals are just right for roasting marshmallows!  So we fill a b-i-g glass of milk, tote out the grahams, chocolate (which we just ran out of...), marshmallows and some sticks for roasting and see who can get the best roast on the 'mallow!  Yum Yum.....makes me HAPPY!  Great memories!

This little sewing box was fun to make- I can see it sitting on a shelf with books or craft items in it!

happy junkin, craftin, and memory making for the summer!
