Some of the Barn Scenery.....

It is always a surprise to me how fast time goes after the Barn Sale... when I think I'm going to be able to sit and get a note out to our wonderful shoppers and vendors here via the blog and now it is the middle of December- Yikes!  Better late than never, right?!

To Start off with- I know we have already said 'Thanks' but we can never say it enough!  We here at headquarters know the sale of all sales would not be what it is without each of you- Blog readers sharing this with friends, vendors, shoppers and 'tag alongers' (yes I just made that up) because some of you have just 'tagged along' to the Barn Sale yet find yourself enjoying it!
(If these little turkey hot cocoa bags don't make you smile just stop looking....and by the way- The Cocoa Koolers were Amazing once again! Hope you were able to enjoy some!)

Here she is shined and ready for her Big Day!  This truck greets more people in its two days at the barn than I think see it all year long- SO Thankful to the precious couple that are more than gracious to allow us to make her the centerpiece as you come in the barn!

Not to slight the 'old rusty truck' - It had center stage in the Rusted Gingham booth upon entrance to the barn!  How cute are these two guys sneaking a peak through the window?  There was a chandelier hanging from the roof of the truck- but it sold before we could get a picture of it!

Welcome to the Barn sweet Barn thanks to precious Jill at Soul Sentiments Now I feel like you are ready for a tour of the place since you have been officially welcomed!

True Texas above- Love and Home on old barn wood with rusty tin.... classic Barn style....
And mesquite- how much of that have you seen growing around barns?  (at least in our part of the world)... I know other states don't have to deal with- admire it's beauty when it is cut down!
Such unique creations from both of these vendors!

Terra Cotta art in pretty shapes and sizes right across the alley from fabric file folders and beautiful photography on canvas!

Silverlicious- Oh yes- always Cute display.... I have a friend at church who has worn her gorgeous silver chandelier earrings every Sunday since Barn Sale- I think she is taunting me as I did not get to them first!

Amen to this- we typically think of children with pure hearts and unaffected by this world.  However, we are all born into sin so it is up to us to have a relationship with our Saviour and ask for this pure heart on a daily basis! I haven't a clue which booth this was in- so kudos to whomever created it and purchased it!

And lastly for this post- I will leave you with this...... Joy to the World- our Lord has come- Let earth receive her King!!!!  May you have a blessed Christmas season!

Thank you for sticking with us all year and for your anticipation for the Barn Sale annually- we are truly Thankful, Honored and Blessed to host it.  We anticipate it so much and look forward to our family that greatly expands that weekend each year!

We will continue to post pictures... lots of pictures!  And we will post them in our Facebook album as well!

Treats-
Suzanne & crew

From the City to the Barn

We want to invite our city friends to make the quick trip to Gonzales this weekend!

Where is Gonzales, anyway?

Well, it's just south of I-10, about an hour from San Antonio and Austin; two hours from Houston.

FAQs about Gonzales:
Is it in the Valley?
Nope, but Valley friends, come on up!
Did you say Dallas?
No, but it's a common mistake! Really.
How long will it take me to get there?
San Antonio and Austin friends, it'll take you about an hour; Houston friends, we'll see you in about 2 hours!
Is it a tiny, one-horse town?
It's not as tiny as it once was and there are some great options for food, shopping, and sleeping while you're in town. Check them out here.

Come see us this Friday and Saturday, November 7th and 8th at JB Wells Park in Gonzales!
Friday 4:00 to 8:00
Saturday 9:00 to 4:00
Free parking!
$3 admission (exact change, please)

Traveler on the Backroads

We wanted to share a great post from Facebook this week. Thanks to Traveler on the Backroads for a great piece!

(By the way, did you know you don't have to be a Facebook user to view? Just click the link to see.)

More photos here.

They say everything’s bigger in Texas, and that’s good news if you have a passion for rust, whimsy, and funky junk.

Why? Because every year, country treasures both new and old, rusty and repurposed, whisical and nostalgic are gathered for what one enthusiast calls “the best treasure hunt of the year” ... the Rusted Gingham Barn Sale in Gonzales, Texas.

The creative force behind this ever popular junking destination is Suzanne Sexton, who turned her penchant for collecting, hoarding and as she lovingly calls it “creative repurposing” of things that no one is using any more into an event that folks from Houston to San Antonio (and beyond) are telling their family and friends about so that they too can hop in their cars, trucks, vans and RVs and dive into the fun.

Suzanne first turned her dream of preserving history “one piece of junk at a time” into reality by hosting a barn sale in her own back yard in her own barn seven years ago, but in time, there were cars parking a mile down the road on either side and she needed, of course, to move to a bigger barn ...

The Final Four

Well- at least we have pics of these 'Final Four'- so that will have to suffice for a name.   There are a few other vendors that we have photos of- but they are hard copy photos and only we can see them.... you will have to come see for yourselves! ;-)

C-A-N-N-O-T believe that the Calendar flips to November on Saturday and a time change on Sunday--- Wow, I truly feel like I was just doing all of this for last year's sale!  However, it is another sale with more GoOds on the way!  Looking so forward to all of your smiling faces and big embraces!

Ok- here is a quick run down of what we have left on photos....

 2 Shabby Chics
These gals came to the show last year as shoppers to see some friends and Loved It... They have booths in Beeville and Victoria, Texas.  That being said, if you love their goods at Barn Sale- you can find them during the year too!

Sometimes we get applications with extra special 'something' to them... this next vendor was one of them.  She told us that last year her and her husband were planning a weekend getaway to one of their favorite towns- Gonzales.  In doing so, they checked the community calendar where they found Barn Sale info and decided that was the weekend to come.  Needless to say they loved it.  Ms Ellen has been creating precious journals for family and friends for several years and is ready to share them with the Barn! MzElle's Journals and Stuff will be making their first appearance at a show, so come take in her beautiful personalized journals!

Next is a lady that has been with us for the past two years and is glad to be back!  Julie of YIPIOKYA spends her time at her sewing machine running out a cooler than cool  mix of vintage cowboy mexico inspired clothing and accessories.  If you like this look or has a friend that does- be sure to stop in and see her!
Julie in her hand upcycled western shirt!

Dolly & Co will be with us again this year.  In addition to our Barn Sale they also have a booth at Cherry Tree Creative in Taylor- let me say, if you live near there be sure to check it out!!

I am still kicking myself for not buying this little turquoise piece last year- I hope if one of you reading this has it that you are enjoying it immensely! Dolly & Co specializes in vintage, shabby chic, hand made dog toys and for this time of year- Christmas!

With over 70 vendors, we surely hope you find something from lace to leather, mesquite to magnet boards, burlap to well burlap, jewelry to junk, photos to pens, tote bags to trinkets, pumpkins to PiE, chippy to china, linens to lamps, tamales to treasures- you get the idea.... there is something for just about Everyone!
Rumor has it there will be viewing of a rare white bat as well.... come see for yourself!

I have to brag on my brother for the above photo- a few weeks ago he asked me to 'keep my eyes out' for an old wooden ladder.... Well, I already had one available.  He told me what he wanted to do with it and here it is!  I am so proud of him- I must be rubbing off on him a bit! ;-)  Funny thing is he needs walls full of them for all his books! That is one thing we definitely have in common- a love of books.  Although, he actually reads all of his-and quick!  I am still working on Rhinestone Jesus that I started this summer!

And finally I will leave you with this that makes me laugh every time I see it- just change out Flea Market with Barn Sale and you get the picture!

Just a little more junkin for me this week and finish up tagging- then it is finalizing the 'village' that helps us get this whole thing kicked off!  We are counting down the days..... Such Fun awaits!!!
Barn Sale 2014 is near- very very near!

Friday Nov 7th 4-8
Saturday Nov 8th 9-4
$3 admission

Tamales, Frito Pie, drinks, Royer's Pie Haven, cupcakes, cocoa, pimento cheese sandwiches, chicken salad sandwiches, salty snacks sweet snacks and even a rumor of some of Suzanne's sugar cookies to be found at the barn!

Hope to see you there!!!

Welding, Dreaming, Custom canning and Rusted Gingham

Time to set the alarm, put it on your phone, mark it on the calendar, dust off your boots or shopping shoes, fuel up the truck, car, suv, bus- whatever mode of transport you have, grab the hubby, best friend, mom, grandmom and whomever else wants to come enjoy the fun festive fall barn at J.B. Wells Park in Gonzales!!

We can't even tell you how excited we are about the vendors coming- I just want to shop the whole weekend!!!!

We have a new vendor coming- another 'guy'- he came to the show last year and loved it....so he has been creating a forest in his shop since being accepted.  This is just a small example of what he might have with him in his booth....

I can just see these trees on porches all over the place!!!

Next is sweet Shirley from The Dream Corner joining us for her third year.  I am simply impressed by these craftsmen that have been creating for years upon years yet find new ways to make their product look more beautiful.  I hope you are as impressed with these few photos as I was.

Next - Miss Alphabet Photography is joining us for her 6th show!!!  We have purchased a few letters from her over the years!  Delighted to see the numbers being part of the set as well.  Tammi really enjoys this show as it's 'in her backyard' as she calls it!  We are just south of Luling- so she can say that!

And next- oh the joy that came over us when we saw this darling ladies app back in our box---- WHH Ranch Co with the adorable and super sweet Charlotte Hamzy at the helm for our show.  You may remember her beautiful hand crafted Christmas ornaments that may show up in her booth, but this is something to get taste buds excited about.... The oldest family cannery in Texas!  They are famous for their 'Cowboy Candy' so if anyone wants to bring cream cheese and crackers we can hang out together!

I'm thinking great stocking stuffers for the the guys, good college guy gifts (hope my nephews are not reading this post), couple of jars for office Christmas parties, couple of jars for the pantry when friends show up and you need some snackin......

Along with all these we have a few more vendors to highlight next week and then you can see them in person!!!!!
However, amongst all this I thought it should be noted that Rusted Gingham will have a booth as well!  There is going to be a full section of these beauties that inspired part of our name....
and you will see the three of us in different capacities at the barn.....
and if we could have given an award last year to the shopper that came the farthest- this smart, sweet, talented, mom of 3 boys, former college roommate, friend since we were babies would have won it...all the way from GERMANY!!!!  Not sure if you can tell the wet eyes I had- they stunned (surprised, shocked) me walking up- she had a choice of weekends that she could come back to the states and chose the weekend of the Barn Sale so she could finally experience what she had been hearing about for years! It made me smile beyond measure!

Well, the countdown is truly on here at Headquarters....  Where are you coming from???

Wherever it may be- all the vendors will be H-A-P-P-Y to see you!  Thanks for making the Barn Sale what it is.... We couldn't do it without you!!!!

Friday Nov 7th ** 4pm-8pm **
Saturday Nov 8th ** 9am-4pm**

Simply J's Donkey Smiling at Paper & Lace in KK's closet

Creative group of vendors by the names on the post title!  We are nearing the end of these which gets me super giddy..... Barn Sale is just over 3 weeks away!!!!

I have to say I am super excited- the little country church out by us received their annual shipment of pumpkins in last night- we always go help unload...It now is officially Fall!!!

The grounds are covered in Pumpkins!  If you are in Gonzales County between now and Oct 31st- make your way to Monthalia for the Pumpkin Patch!  Open during daylight hours with pumpkins of almost any shape and size available for purchase!

Now that you all want to come get pumpkins I will show you more pictures from vendors to make you want to come to the Barn as well!

Coming from Austin, Texas- Simply J's was with us last year and enjoyed the show and the vendors too!  They will be back with us this year to share smiles and their creative talents.

Smalls, Rustic, painted furniture, upcycled, vintage and handmade will fill Simply J's booth

Paper and Lace comes to us from Meridian, Texas and have set up shop with us for the past several shows.  Their look is not to be mistaken for anyone else. There is always beautiful lace and crocheted doilies restyled into something just as beautiful the second time around.

Donkey Smiles Antiques will be here again from down the road in Marion, Texas.  They scooted in last year smiling and could not wait to be back.  They loved the feel of the barn and the shoppers.  Their style is very different and more formal in what they provide.  Very worth your time to see what treasure they will bring!

KK's Closet will be joining us from Galveston, Texas!  They are 'new' to Texas and excited to be doing shows here.  They specialize in decorative pillows made from vintage fabrics, linens and upcycled sweaters. Here is a sampling of the beauty that can grace beds, couches, settees or chairs!

Signs, Signs and more signs- there will be signs all over the barn!!!  One of the 75+ creative vendors is sure to have a sign that makes you smile!

The Sweeney's from Edna, Texas will be back at the Barn for a second showing.  Their lights were a hit with shoppers!

You truly never know what you are going to find when you come shopping at the Barn!  Selecting vendors is a very challenging process- we do our best to provide a very unique selection of creative talent from across the state.  We hope you are as excited to come to the Barn as we will be to have you!

J. B. Wells Park Gonzales, Texas is just over an hour from San Antonio, Austin, Victoria and 2 hours from Houston and College Station!  Gonzales is really centrally located and easy to find!  Just 13 miles south of I-10 at the intersection of Hwy 90, Hwy 97 and Hwy 183.
